Microsoft Discovery AI Platform Goes GA on Azure, Accelerating Quantum Chip Breakthrough

Microsoft has launched its Discovery platform for autonomous AI research agents on Azure, alongside the Majorana 2 topological quantum chip. Discovery orchestrates specialized agents that generate hypotheses, run simulations, and validate results with cited, confidence-scored outputs. The platform played a critical role in developing Majorana 2, yielding qubits with a 20-second mean lifetime and a 1,000-fold reliability gain over its predecessor. Microsoft now aims to deliver a scalable quantum computer by 2029. A free desktop app preview is also available.
