What is R-ichard's News?

R-ichard's News is my personal daily news feed — an automated digest that collects the stories I care about from across the web each day, across topics like AI, tech, DevOps, security, programming, open source, and medtech. It pulls from TLDR newsletters, Hacker News, GitHub Trending, InfoQ, Substack, and The Register.

How it works

  1. Ingest — Stories are collected from several sources each day
  2. Deduplicate — Duplicate and near-duplicate stories are merged
  3. Categorize — Each article gets 1–2 topics: AI, Tech, DevOps, Security, Programming, Open Source, or MedTech
  4. Score — An importance score (1–10) is assigned from novelty, breadth of impact, and actionability
  5. Summarize — Each article gets a short teaser and a fuller summary
  6. Review — An LLM editor curates the front page: dedupes overlapping coverage, evens out the headline voice, and picks the lead
  7. Publish — The digest is built into this static site daily

Technology

The pipeline is built with Python, using LLM-powered intelligence for categorization, summarization, and editorial review. The website is built with Astro, generating static HTML for maximum performance and reliability.
