Solo.io unveils Agentgateway, a unified Rust gateway for AI and API traffic donated to AAIF

Agentgateway is a unified high-performance gateway built in Rust to handle both AI-specific traffic—such as agents, MCP servers, A2A, and LLMs—and traditional HTTP/gRPC APIs through a single control plane. It addresses emerging operational concerns like tool governance, protocol-aware routing, observability, and rate limiting for agentic workflows without duplicating infrastructure. Leveraging lessons from Istio ambient's ztunnel and using Tokio/Hyper, it achieves approximately 500k QPS with sub-0.2ms P99 latency. The project was donated to the Agentic AI Infrastructure Foundation (AAIF) to ensure vendor-neutral governance and accelerate open adoption.
