Developers petition Anthropic for official Linux Claude Desktop build

A widely circulated GitHub feature request makes a detailed technical and business case for Anthropic to ship an official Claude Desktop client for Linux. The author argues that Anthropic already maintains Linux build pipelines for Claude Code and runs Linux VMs internally for its Cowork agent, so a native desktop build is technically feasible. Linux developers currently rely on popular but unofficial repackages of the Windows Electron app to access desktop extensions, computer use, and plugin testing, creating credential and supply-chain security risks. With Linux representing over a quarter of professional developer workstations, the request asks for a public roadmap position and a signed first-party .deb release.
