Python JIT compiler faces removal from main branch over PEP process dispute

The Python Steering Council has suspended new development on the experimental JIT compiler from CPython's main branch, stating that PEP 744 was merely informational and the proper process was not followed. Bug and security fixes will still be accepted, but if no new PEP is created and accepted within six months, the JIT code will be removed entirely. The decision puts Python 3.15's promised performance improvements at risk and has sparked concern from core contributors about lost momentum and rushed community review.
