OpenAI announced updates to GPT-5.6 Sol in ChatGPT, making it more reliable with facts (68% fewer responses with factual errors vs. GPT-5.5 Instant), more focused in its answers, and more consistent across instant and deep-reasoning modes. Plus and Pro users get a new slider to control how much reasoning the model applies. Free users are being upgraded to GPT-5.6 Luna as their default model with unlimited text chats and a new Think button for harder questions. Safety measures include age-appropriate boundaries for users believed to be under 18.
