bb is an open-source, MIT-licensed agentic IDE and agent orchestrator that works with popular coding agents like Codex, Claude Code, and Cursor on your own subscriptions. Its standout feature is an extension system that lets users ask the IDE to build new functionality for itself — from task management GUIs to tiling thread navigation to a markdown vault to a digital audio workstation. Much of bb's shipped functionality was itself built using the same plugin system, making it a tool that genuinely builds itself.
