AI hoards all the RAM through 2027, gamers left fighting over scraps and $500 DIMM kits
A Digitimes report indicates Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron have collectively sold through all their 2027 DRAM and HBM manufacturing capacity, primarily to AI companies via long-term purchase agreements. With supply locked up for years and NAND prices also rising, the ongoing RAM crisis is expected to push consumer prices even higher, affecting everything from PC builds to gaming consoles like the Xbox Series X and Valve's Steam Machine. No relief is in sight unless additional capacity comes online or AI demand cools.
